Wyadup Rocks Yallingup - Friday 26 June 2015 HIGH RES pic 2

A huge search and rescue operation has resumed at first light for a young man dragged out to sea at Yallingup on WA’s southwest coast.

Dunsborough man Matthias Bache, 25, was jumping into the ocean off rocks at Wyadup Rocks about 5pm when his friends noticed he was in trouble.

They were forced to standby and watch helplessly as Mr Bache was swept away.

Police, the RAC Rescue helicopter and crews on several boats searched for the man but have been unable to find him.

Mr Bache has been described by his friends as “free spirited” and “adventurous”.
“He’s just such a lovely person and always smiles and these sort of people you’d just never expect to go,” his friend Joanne Elizabeth said.

The 25 year old had planned to go cliff jumping with friends but he was the only one to jump. His mates said the conditions were rough.

They last saw him being dragged out into deeper waters.

A land and air search got underway immediately.

Four search and rescue boats, five jet skis, the rescue helicopter and a search plane – all trying to find the Dunsborough local.

On Wednesday afternoon, highly skilled police divers were called in but by evening, there was still no sign of Mr Bache.

“I can imagine him just feeling excited and really wanting to jump off,” Joanne said. To read more click here.
