Search dogs form a vital part of any Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team. The dogs have the ability to detect the scent of deeply entombed persons in a collapsed structure, allowing the USAR team to focus their efforts and affect the rescue.

In the clip below, handlers and dogs from all over Australia, including five dogs from Victoria, attended a 5 day USAR Canine Workshop at the Victorian Emergency Management Training Centre (VEMTC) utilising the USAR prop and rubble pile.
