The 4th annual Australian and New Zealand Search and Rescue Conference will be held on Wednesday 23rd May 2018 at the Star Gold Coast.
Mr Duncan Ferner, NZSAR Secretariat Manager, NZSAR joins us at the Conference to present ‘NZSAR Environmental Scan’.
What are the factors that are likely to impact on the future demand and supply of SAR services and capability? How might changes in demographics, technology, economy, politics, and the environment affect the SAR sector? What might impact on the ability of the SAR sector to supply an effective service in the future?
NZSAR commissioned an environmental scan to explore these questions and provide us with a resource for strategic planning and risk analysis.
This presentation will discuss factors that are likely to increase demand for SAR services, and where we see associated risks.
Duncan has been the Manager of New Zealand’s Search and Rescue (NZSAR) Secretariat since late 2005. He is primarily responsible for the strategic coordination and leadership of New Zealand’s Search and Rescue (SAR) Sector. Duncan also provides SAR policy advice to the NZSAR Council, implements measures to support cooperation and collaboration between SAR agencies, promotes SAR preventions activity and serves as an ideas initiator for the Sector.
