The 2017 Search and Rescue Conference will be held next month on the 24 May at The Star Hotel Gold Coast, (previously Jupiter’s) Queensland. The conference again follows the Australian and New Zealand Disaster and Emergency Management Conference, running consecutively at the same venue.

Mr Greg Gill, Chief Aircrew Officer at QGAIR joins us next month on the Gold Coast to discuss ‘Hoist Recovery methods utilised by QGAIR EMS/SAR. The priority and use of Hoist Rescue Equipment whilst ensuring the most effective recovery method for the patient/survivor’.

Hoist recovery methods utilised within Queensland Government Air Rescue SAR/EMS. The patient priority when utilising extraction equipment whilst recovering patients from difficult areas.

Operations in high terrain, rocky outcrops, inaccessible coastline areas, recovery from vessels, recovery of personnel during flood operations and water recoveries. The order of priority in regards to Hypothermic Strops, Patient Harness, Child Recovery Capsules, Stretcher Winch Operations, Collapsible Rescue Basket.

When to utilise a high line, float line and tag line when recovering patients into the aircraft with the rescue equipment. The related effects on the human body when utilising the equipment to rescue survivors and patients from difficult environments.

A group discussion encouraging other operators to highlight differences and discuss new equipment for effective recovery of survivors/patients into the aircraft.
