DSC_3493MRNSW30 The conference program has been released for the 2016 Australian and New Zealand Search and Rescue Conference (ANZSAR); Land, Sea & Air.

The 2016 Conference will be held at the Jupiters Hotel, Gold Coast on the 1 June 2016 and will continue to provide a platform of discussion that began in 2015 for the Search and Rescue Community.

ANZSAR aims to tackle the issues and challenges in Search and Rescue and continue the support of professional development in new training, techniques and requirements.

The Program includes 6 Keynote presentations, 26 Forum presentations and poster presentations for the Search and Rescue community to continue their learning and understanding of others research and experiences.

With an impressive program of keynote speakers and targeted forums it makes this the premier conference to attend in the Oceania region.

Confirmed keynote speakers include;

  • Dr Melanie Irons, PhD crisis communication and the use of social media
  • Dean Lawrence, National President, Royal New Zealand Coastguard
  • Dr Paul Luckin, Medical Consultant, SAR Training Australia
  • Dr Jane Shakespeare Finch, Associate Professor School of Psychology and Counselling, Queensland University of Technology

ANZSAR brings together the volunteer and professional search and rescue community to share new ideas, highlight best practice, and discuss recent events. This is a unique opportunity to meet and network with a diverse range of skilled practitioners across air, land and sea disciplines. It is an exciting time to be part of the search and rescue industry as it continue to grow and adapt with developments in emerging technology and the increasingly high profile of search and rescue missions worldwide.

The conference follows on from the 5th Australian and New Zealand Disaster and Emergency Management Conference will be held at Jupiters Gold Coast, QLD on the 30-31 May 2016. The Conference theme ‘EARTH, FIRE and RAIN’ will continue to examine issues that impact preparedness, resilience, response and capability.
