CHILDREN from across the Sunshine Coast will take to the water to learn vital beach safety lessons as part of Surf Life Saving Queensland’s award- winning Little Lifesavers program during the coming school holidays.

The initiative introduces school-aged children to basic principles of water safety in a controlled environment, and can put them on the path to becoming fully fledged surf lifesavers.
SLSQ community awareness co-ordinator Michelle Jacobson said it would be the first time the Little Lifesavers program had been run on the Sunshine Coast, and was intended to be fun and educational with a strong focus on general water safety and surf skills.

“At its heart, Little Lifesavers is designed to ensure that kids have fun in the water while, at the same time, introducing them to some of the basic principles of beach safety through the guidance of qualified trainers,” Ms Jacobson said.

The Little Lifesavers programs are run by fully qualified trainers.
