Announcement ran in Canberra Times 8 July 2015.
Minister for police and emergency services Joy Burch has promoted Conrad Barr to chief officer of the ACT State Emergency Service.
Mr Barr, who has almost three decades of experience in emergency response and management, will commence his new role on September 21.
“Conrad is currently deputy chief officer of ACT Fire & Rescue and has acted as the chief officer on many occasions,” Ms Burch said.
Mr Barr will replace Tony Graham who retired as chief officer last week after working in senior leadership positions for more than 10 years.
During his time with ACT Fire and Rescue, Mr Barr expanded the force’s community unit to become largest volunteer group in the territory.
